Saturday, January 19th would have been Janis Joplin’s 70th birthday had she not died at an early age. I’ve been a big fan of her music since I was first introduced to it during a summer camp when I was 13 years old or so. My favorite song of hers was, and still is, Piece of My Heart. Besides her killer vocals and awesome screaming, the guitar work is great.
Like Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Duane Allman, and countless others I wonder what her progression as a musician would have looked like had she not died so young.
